Newsweek Shows Continued Cluelessness with Call for ‘Action Hero” Gun-Grabbers

October 22, 2017   And Bill Hader says he knows what to do. It’s just that Newsweek thinks he’s not “action hero” material. “Hollywood liberals can’t stop the NRA,” Newsweek’s “culture and entertainment reporter”   Emily Gaudette advocates . “We need Taylor Swift, country stars, action heroes.” Typically, those who write editorials are distinguished from “reporters,” but if truth in labeling were really an issue, the publication would have to change its title to “’Progressive’ Opinionweek.” And if enough Americans valued those opinions, Sidney Harman (the late husband of my former  anti-gun Congresswoman Jane ) wouldn’t have been able to buy the whole rag  for a dollar  back in 2010. The gaggle of virtue-oozing “celebrities” are reading from an ad agency-produced script urging viewers to text “#Reje

Will you let politicians decide what rights you “need?"

Gun rights supporters: Senate President Pro Tem  Phil Berger says he has done enough for you, and doesn’t see a “need” to pass House Bill 189 for permitless concealed carry . Specifically, when asked whether he would move HB 189, he said: “We have passed a substantial bill dealing with some concerns about the Second Amendment. We have done away with the pistol purchase permit which was the number one goal of many of the gun rights groups for a long period of time. I just don’t know if there is a need for us to delve into additional issues dealing with guns.” Right now,  HB 189 is languishing in the House Rules Committee  despite having passed both Judiciary and Rules committees earlier. As you may recall, despite being calendared for a floor vote, NC House Speaker Tim Moore pulled it from the calendar at the last minute and sent it back to Rules.  To be fair, Berger and Moore did an outstanding job of passing Senate Bill 41 to repeal our Jim Crow-era pistol purchase permit system and

As we explained in our  January 31, 2023 alert , the compliance period is due to close  TOMORROW, May 31, 2023 .  This rule impacts pistols equipped with certain stabilizing braces by amending the definition of "rifle" in ATF's regulations so that if the stabilizing brace meets certain criteria, the firearm may be subject to the National Firearms Act (NFA) controls as a short barrel rifle. I. Recap of the Final Rule The added text to the definitions of rifle in 27 C.F.R. 478.11 and 479.11 reads as follows: (1) For purposes of this definition, the term ‘‘designed or redes
