NMSSA Update September 21, 2023

  The last two weeks have been a tumultuous time for New Mexico gun owners to say the least, but here is an update on where we stand today with our lawsuit, and more resources if you want a deeper dive into everything that is happening. First, our lawsuit and the Temporary Restraining Order are still in place. The  governor has amended her public health order , but we have not withdrawn our lawsuit and the hearing on October 3rd for the injunction is still scheduled to happen. We commissioned a poll  through a professional polling firm on how the New Mexico electorate views her order, and we found broad, bipartisan opposition to her order. We also found that 91% of New Mexicans believed the problem with crime is criminals, not guns. This may sound obvious to you, but this is the message the governor and legislators need to hear. We will utilize this data to make our case in future legislative sessions. KOAT, the ABC news affiliate in Albuquerque,  covered the poll  and the governor'

April 6, 10:56 AM I received the following from a colleague, who, due to the personal nature of medical information, wishes to remain anonymous: My wife came home from her OBGYN tonight and showed me a health form they provided her for her visit. I've attached the form and blocked out her personal information. If you look at the last line of the "personal care instructions" you'll see that they recommend she keep all guns unloaded and locked in a cabinet. This struck me as odd because I can't figure out what this has to do with OBGYN health? They offer other suggestions like wearing a seat belt and using appropriate sunblock but how did they select such comments? Surely there are other things more dangerous to womens' health, right? They don't me

ADL engages in stereotyping, bigotry against gun owners

So begins the  amicus curiae  brief  submitted by the Anti Defamation League in support of Respondents, that is, for the City of Chicago and against Otis McDonald  et al.  In a nutshell: The extremist threat... counsels that the Court should decide this case narrowly, so... experimentation with effective gun control measures — can continue. Yeah, those Chicago "gun control measures" sure has been "effective". And nothing like "advancing good will and mutual understanding with all Americans" by lumping them in with vile and violent haters, and using that to strip them of their fundamental right to the means of armed defense prescribed by the Founders as "being necessary to the security of a free State.&q
