AzCDL Action Alert - House and Senate Bills Stuck!

 


Thank you to everyone who has responded to our Action Alerts--your voices are being heard by our legislators! Our work isn't over, though, and it's critical that we keep up the pressure to have them vote "Yes" on each of these bills:HB 2166 exempts firearms and accessories from sales tax.HB 2447 prevents colleges & universities from prohibiting concealed carry on campus.HB 2448 provides for firearms safety training for school kids in grades 6-12.HB 2473 prohibits discrimination against firearms companies in public contracts.HB 2489 creates a "provisional" CCW permit for those aged 18-20.And, even if you've already contacted your Senator regarding these bills, please do it again!SB 1123 prevents colleges & universities from prohibiting concealed carry on campus.SB 1125 guarantees the right to store & transport firearms you legally possess.Please use the links below to take action on all of these bills!

HB 2166, which would exempt firearms and related accessories from transaction privilege (sales) tax, is expected to be heard by the House Committee of the Whole (COW) this week. We need to let our State Representatives know that this bill needs to move forward!Your Representatives need to hear from you! It only takes a few mouse clicks to voice your opinion.

HB 2447, which would prevent colleges and universities from making rules that prohibit CCW permit holders from carrying concealed weapons on campuses.Due to strong opposition from administrators and campus police departments, the bill is being retained on the House Committee of the Whole (COW) calendar. We need to let our State Representatives know that this bill needs to move forward!

HB 2448, which would require school districts and charter schools to provide one or more age-appropriate firearm safety courses for students in grades 6 - 12, will likely be heard by the House Committee of the Whole (COW) this week. We need to let our State Representatives know that this bill needs to move forward!

HB 2473 would prohibit "public entities" from entering into contracts for goods or services with a value of $100,000 or more unless the contract includes a written certification that firearms businesses will not be discriminated against. HB 2489, which would create a new "provisional" CCW permit for those aged 18-20 years, is being retained on the House Committee of the Whole calendar. We need to let our State Representatives know that this bill needs to move forward!
