What's next for gun rights in Ohio?
Dear Friend,
We got permitless concealed carry passed the legislature and signed by the Governor. This may be the most significant advance in Second Amendment rights in Ohio history. You can read about the changes this will bring about starting June 13.
But nine months remain in the current legislative session. So what else would we like to achieve?
Here are two high priority policy changes we continue to work on:
HB 325 and SB 185 are companion bills to prevent state and local governments from infringing on Second Amendment rights during declared emergencies. This is the most comprehensive legislation of its kind in America. Each bill has already passed its originating chamber.
HB 99 is a bill to expressly exempt persons authorized to go armed within a school safety zone from a requirement to complete extensive peace officer basic training. We believe local school boards should have the power to craft their own security plans, including approving school personnel to be armed. This bill has passed the House and is now in a Senate committee.
There are other pro-gun bills we support as well listed on our website.
While we celebrate our recent victory, we continue fighting the good fight for Constitutional rights for all Ohioans.
Yours for Liberty,
Dean Rieck
Executive Director
