Arizona Legislature Adjourns
This weekend, the 55th Arizona legislature, second regular session adjourned "sine die." The terms is Latin for "without a day," and means that no further work is scheduled for the body this year. Any bills that were still in progress when the legislature adjourned are now dead. AzCDL bills that suffered this fate are: HB 2166 which would have exempted firearms and firearms safety accessories from state and local transaction privilege (sales) taxes. HB 2316 which would have exempted CCW permit holders from prohibitions against carrying a concealed weapon in most public buildings. HB 2414 which would have removed the requirement for firearms to be unloaded while locked in a vehicle on school grounds. HB 2448 which would have required school districts and charter schools to provide students in grades 6 through 12 with one or more training sessions in firearms safety in an age-appropriate manner.
