Things are getting crazy, and we are going to need your help. There is just no way around it.
Once again, we are seeing a full court press on your gun rights. These assaults are both here in Oregon and nationally. And some of it is just plain weird.
US Senator Jeff Merkley has sent out an email that calls for both a ban on modern rifles and age restrictions on their purchase.
He has referred to “gun caused violence.” And, after promising a long list of new restrictions on your rights, he called them “only a first step.”
Every attack on your rights and property for the last 50 years has always been a “first step.” No matter how much of our liberty is stolen, it’s never enough. It’s always just the beginning. Always just …the “first step.”
As you know, the most recent efforts to further eliminate your rights are coming from both parties, as the Republicans in Washington are working with the Democrats to craft new gun control from a “framework” they have agreed to.
In Oregon the Democrats in Salem have been using mass killings to push for a wish list of gun bans. You name it, they want it. Bans on modern firearms, bans on feeding devices, “enhanced” background checks,” permits to purchase, a ban on privately made firearms and an increase in the minimum age to purchase.
And don’t think they mean a new minimum age of 21. Rabid gun banner Floyd Prozanski is floating the idea to raise the age to 26!
In an email dated June 14th, Prozanski said “I've already discussed with Congressman Peter DeFazio possible changes to the age requirement for purchasing semi-automatic weapons, and raised the issue of cognitive maturity (for males, age 24-26). I know he’s working with some of his colleagues to enact such legislation.”
All of this, of course, is camouflaged in the deceit of “common sense gun safety measures.”
With a cognitively impaired President, and Republicans willing to fold. both in DC and Salem, you can rest assured they will be doing everything in their power to ram through more dangerous and pointless attacks on your rights and property.
On top of the efforts by politicians to destroy the Second Amendment, signatures are being gathered to put extreme and unconstitutional firearm’s restrictions on the ballot.
With your help we were able to slow down those efforts but that fight is far from over. In the current environment, if anti-gun measures make the ballot, it will be an extremely expensive campaign to overcome the anti-gun Portland vote. Democrats in Salem are promising to introduce as legislation, anything that does not pass by ballot measure.
The sponsors of the ballot measures are reporting that they are “ beginning conversations with legislators for sponsors for our IP 18 legislation to fast track in the 2023 legislative session.”
Meanwhile, there are still two county wide battles taking place to defend Second Amendment Sanctuary laws in Yamhill and Columbia.
We are fighting on many fronts, and all of them are costly.
We have seen that we cannot count on the Republicans in the legislature to stand up for our rights, and now we have three candidates for Governor, none of whom will defend the Second Amendment.
The Republican, Christine Drazan, sat by while the Democrats rammed through the last outrageous assault on gun rights. Drazan campaigned as a “conservative” in the primary and is now promoting herself as a “moderate.” Her voting record reveals that she is actually a liberal.
The Democrat, Tina Kotek, engineered the anti-gun attacks, and the independent candidate, Betsy Johnson, just promised to join the Democrats in their efforts to further restrict firearms in Oregon.
In a bizarre twist, one of the losing Republican governor candidates, Bridget Barton, (who regularly, and falsely, claimed to have OFF’s support) has been hired to promote Johnson’s campaign. Barton announced this after Johnson declared her intention to support new gun restrictions.
With crime spiraling out of control and violence becoming the sole tactic of the left, the government’s attempts to disarm Americans are truly chilling.
Oregon Firearms is the only voice for gun owners in Oregon. We can do nothing without your support. We are facing the most dangerous wave of anti-gun hysteria in our history and we desperately need your help.

We will not let the cowardice of legislators stand in our way.
