MoveOn Email SoS Coalition
Robert Reich <moveon-help@list.moveon.org>
Dear fellow MoveOn member,
I want to tell you about a dark-money group you may not have heard of before but absolutely must know about: the America First Secretary of State Coalition.
The coalition was formed by radical MAGA candidates who are running for secretary of state in key battleground states. In most states, the secretary of state oversees elections—including determining who is eligible to vote and with the power to kick voters off the rolls, throw out votes, and declare the winners of elections.1
The goal of the America First Secretary of State Coalition is to elect Trump marionettes to the top elections administration in critical swing states so that when the 2024 election comes, they will have the power to declare Trump the winner—no matter the true will of the voters.
David, this is an existential threat to our democracy. But thankfully, my good friends at MoveOn are doing something they've never done in their history: MoveOn is running a multimillion-dollar campaign to defeat MAGA candidates for secretary of state and elect honest Democrats who will protect our democracy and count every vote.
I've seen the plan, and I'm very excited about their campaign. But in order to pull it off, MoveOn needs your help.
That is why I have a personal request: Will you join me and chip in $5 a month to power MoveOn's democracy-saving campaign? Your monthly support will help power MoveOn's campaign over the long term and ensure their hard-hitting ads and organizing are sustained through Election Day.
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
Steve Bannon, who is closely tied to the America First Secretary of State Coalition, said it outright: "We're taking over all the elections."2 "We're going to take this back village by village … precinct by precinct," Bannon said.3
In Arizona, the leading Republican candidate is Trump-endorsed Mark Finchem, a member of the white supremacist group the Oath Keepers, who tried to decertify President Joe Biden's win in the state and attended the January 6 insurrection.4
In Nevada, the Republican candidate is insurrectionist Jim Marchant, a member of Nevada's fake slate of pro-Trump electors seeking to overturn President Biden's victory in 2020.5
In Michigan, Trump has endorsed Kristina Karamo, a far-right conspiracy theorist who claims that demonic possession can be sexually transmitted. Karamo to this day continues to spread the absurd lie that Trump is the true president of the U.S.6
The scariest part about these candidates is that secretary of state races tend to fly under the radar, which means the chance that a voter chooses one of these candidates without knowing their true intentions is high. That's where MoveOn comes in. They are running a multimillion-dollar campaign, the most they have ever spent in a midterm election, to help raise the name recognition of the secretary of state candidates running against these MAGA extremists, educate voters about how important these elections are, and ensure that everyone knows what could happen if Trump-loving election deniers take over battleground states in advance of 2024.
They are preparing to run television and digital ads, host phone and text banks, mobilize thousands of MoveOn members to volunteer, and do whatever else is needed to stop these extremist candidates who are hell-bent on destroying our democracy.
But MoveOn's resources come from us, MoveOn members. So MoveOn can power its work only with our support.
Will you join us and chip in $5 a month to power MoveOn's democracy campaign to victory and stop Trump's slow-motion coup? Your ongoing support helps ensure that MoveOn has the consistent financial resources they need to sustain their powerful work from now until Election Day.
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Donald Trump and his MAGA allies are methodically enacting a plan to place some of Trump's most ardent supporters in key election offices that oversee vote counting, have the power to certify—or decertify—election results, and declare election winners and losers. We've launched a powerful, multimillion-dollar campaign to stop Trump. But we need your help to power our effort.
Will you chip in monthly to power our campaign to defeat Trump cronies this November and elect officials who will count each and every vote?
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
