GRNC Alert: Anti-Gun Activists Still Push Wake Co. Discharge Ban

WAKE COUNTY GUN OWNERS

KNIGHTDALE ANTI-GUN ACTIVISTS CONTINUE TO PUSH COUNTY-WIDE GUN CONTROL

We at GRNC recently contacted you to speak out at the Wake County Commissioner’s Public Hearing To consider changes to the county-wide Firearms Ordinance this past Tuesday, September 6th and speak out you did.  You turned out in large enough numbers to cause the Commissioners to ostensibly “table” the effort to impose new time and distance restrictions on recreational shooting activities on private property throughout unincorporated Wake County.  A win, right?

Well, not exactly…..

Knightdale anti-gun activists will not let this matter end.

In response to their unrelenting pressure, Commissioners have doubled down on a so-called “Listening Session” in the gun banners' home turf, the Town of Knightdale, this coming Tuesday, September 13th.

The changes they seek are designed not to provide reasonable public safety as proponents would claim, but rather to create wide swaths of areas within the county where the lawful discharge of firearms for training or recreation will forever be prohibited.

Most significantly, property owners with less than 300 yards separation from cited structures (vs the current 100-yard standard) will no longer be able to lawfully discharge firearms at any time on their private property.

Simply put, these revisions are designed to terminate the rights of property owners to decide what is the best and proper use of their properties.

Amazingly, the incidents cited by these activists as necessitating imposition of these changes on ALL law-abiding Wake County residents are in fact already felony levels offenses committed by criminals, a fact confirmed at the Public Hearing by the activist themselves.

Wake County gun owners, you have already seen your share of gun rights repression in the form of “woke” Democrat Sheriff Gerald Baker who not only resisted issuing both Pistol Purchase and Concealed Handgun Permits for over a year until GRNC and GOA successfully sued him (and won!) to comply with state statutes on procedure but also took control of and summarily shut down a Wake County public training range in use for many years.

Not only that, but following the meeting on Tuesday, September 6th, witnesses saw a ready-to-intervene, fully prepared and equipped Wake County SWAT Team staged adjacent to the meeting facility.  Were Commissioners expecting violence from a group of well-behaved citizens merely speaking out to protect their constitutional rights?

Why, then, is this effort to punish the many for the criminal behavior of a few?

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED!

First and foremost, every gun rights supporter, not just those living in Wake County must plan to attend in person the Knightdale Listening Session scheduled for 6:00 pm on Tuesday, September 13th at the Knightdale Town Hall, 950 Steeple Square Ct, Knightdale, NC.  Remember, Knightdale gun banning activists want to impose THEIR will on the entirety of Wake County!  If you’re not there to speak up, your views will be for naught.

“Commissioner, changes to the Wake County Code of Ordinances Chapter 130 Firearms are not necessary and I ask you to take no action to further impair the lawful use of firearms on one’s personal property in unincorporated Wake County.  Any such action to criminalize lawful behavior is an infringement not only on the right to keep, bear, and use arms but also on the property rights of owners to use their property as they see fit.

Not only that, but I have questions regarding the employment of a Wake County tactical SWAT Team outside the meeting facility.  Were you, Commissioner, expecting violence from law-abiding citizens publicly asserting their constitutional rights?

I will be following this matter through GRNC Alerts.”
