To Stallone and Schwarzenegger, your guns are 'the expendables'

"Action heroes" (!) Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and a host of other Hollywood adventure movie stars will once more pretend they have the physical courage and paramilitary skills to put their lives at risk while executing deeds of derring-do, all to save the less competent and bold, and of course, using guns to accomplish their ends. The Expendables opens Friday at theaters throughout the U.S.

Too bad their character's real life portrayers don't trust you with guns.

Take Stallone--please! As I wrote for Guns&Ammo Magazine back in 2001:

"Until America, door to door, takes every handgun, this is what you're gonna have."
--Sylvester Stallone

That the star of "Rambo," who made his fortune exploiting armed violence, should call on government raids to disarm millions of real veterans and the rest of his countrymen, goes beyond hypocritical. It is contemptible.

You can read more detailed sourced quotes here, and even see him pumping his fist at a Brady Center fundraiser here. Not that any of that stopped him from joking about pumping that fist at a former girlfriend or from getting his own concealed carry permit.

As far as Schwarzenegger is concerned, I was warning voters against his hostility to our right to keep and bear arms back when he was still a candidate for CA governor. Those warnings were borne out, first by his signing a law to ban .50 caliber rifles, then microstamping and lead ammo ban bills, and then a handgun ammo registration law...and it's been a pretty lonely venture, with "the gun lobby" not wanting to admit the truth before he was elected--and some even after he had proven he was not our friend. But

If you want to pay good money to line the pockets of these enemies of the Second Amendment, I can't stop you. All I can say is, The Execrables won't get a dime from me.

------------

More movie madness with "The Other Guys"

Not content just to ban guns, the always politically-correct San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency has banned pictures of them--in this case, the gun-wielding poster for the new Will Ferrell/Mark Wahlberg offering, "The Other Guys," requiring guns be replaced with pepper spray and fists.

Ridiculous. And so San Francisco. But at least they're consistent--their main website photo doesn't even show guns on the cops.

It's probably just as well, as Ferrell also mugged for the cameras at that Brady fundraiser Sly attended, and as for Wahlberg, well, I'm still not certain he couldn't get in trouble if he's ever seen touching a real gun by anyone in authority who cares to pursue the matter.

As I recall, Stallone was coaching a girls soccer team in Switzerland,(1970) whilst I was slugging it out with his communist friends in Viet-Nam, and Cambodia. Arnold is just an opportunist and attention hog, married to a stick, and as far as I know his only accomplishment is that he replaced Gray Davis as gov. Oh, and he sank an Austrian APC in a lake.

Amazing, and agreed. Sean- Stallone was starring in low rent porns around that time...;)

    Good article David, shared!

And should stay out of everyone's lives.

People who love guns this much are clearly insecure about something.

Hahahaha, really? Its more about the right to defend myself as I see fit. If that involves a gun...so be it.

Sean. That reminds me about that other Sean, Sean Connery, who as Bond, James Bond, for decades fought evil and saved the world with his wits and his Walther PPK, submachine guns and such. He's also one of those posers, but was highly outraged when he tried to attend some Washington function in traditional Scottish regalia and had to hand over his sgian dhu, the little knife carried in one's sock.
I had to laugh, though bitterly.
Charlton Heston talke about his gun-hating Hollywood friends begging to borrow one when the riots started. Their favored 10-day wait applied to THEM, as they found out. Sic semper tyrannis.

Why should that surprise you about stallon ? During the Viet-Nam war he ran of to Canada and made porn movies , then later made millions off the backs of these same Veterans with his first blood series . Not one of these phonies could be a hero in their best day . Their quintessential lack of real guts and courage is second only to their ignorance of the real world .

It is interesting that none of these so-called aging heros ever held a gun, served in our military, or risked their lives to protect this country and the rights they squander away with their retoric. I would say any soldier or ex-vet has more courage in his baby toe than all of these men combined. I won't see the movie because it would be pitiful to watch these losers prance around while doubles do the work. Even now at retirement age I would have no problem grabbing my weapons and heading for the front to help my fellow vets out but you know the "expendables" would be crying and running the other way because they don't feel they owe anything for the rights they have. These are selfish egotists pretending to be what every vet was and is today. Contempt for them would be a step up for them in what I feel towards them as men of honor. David these men are not worth your contempt much less time in your articles. Concentrate on turning America around with your writings.

I think that Bruce Willis does NOT fall into the same boat as the others. I am not sure about Dolph but his 6th degree black belt probably indicates that he is not oppossed to some violence.

This movie will be a box office hit, just wait and see. We will never learn!

I think spending money on this film would be as bad as buying a Mitsubishi product. We are not insecure gun lovers. We are secure freedom lovers.
