Show NC legislators you are serious about NC Concealed Carry !

In coming days, Representative Keith Kidwell (R-Beaufort, Dare, Hyde, Pamlico, GRNC ****) will introduce another bill for permitless concealed carry. Like House Bill 189, introduced in the last session of the General Assembly, the bill will leave intact the concealed handgun permit system for purposes of reciprocity with other states and bypassing the National Instant Background Check System for gun purchases. Unlike that bill, it will not contain weakening provisions demanded by then-Speaker Tim Moore R-14, ***). StateGovtParkingLots.jpg

WE NEED YOUR HELP

Nope, not money. Please help show we are serious about constitutional carry by joining GRNC volunteers at the legislature on Wednesday, January 29 at 0830 EST at the NC General Assembly on 16 W. Jones St., Raleigh, NC 27601. [Note: Visitor Lot #1 is closest.]

We will be doing a literature drop to start prepping the legislature for passage of several pieces of pro-gun legislation. See accompanying maps for parking information and building layout.

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE

Suggested Subject:"STOP ALAMANCE SCHEME TO END SHOOTING RANGES"

Dear: Commissioner

This ordinance is not only anti-business, but inhibits me, a responsible firearms owner, from exercising my ability to practice and safely prepare to protect myself and my family members. It ultimately will drive ranges out of the county, your apparent goal, and makes it more expensive for me to responsibly prepare.

The Alamance ordinance is illegal in that it down-zones every commercial shooting range.

1. It decreases permitted uses of the land, in contravention to § (D)(2), by requiring the range to be 300 feet from any occupied building, by requiring a setback of 100 from point of fire to the property boundary, by requiring fencing, by requiring signage, and by restricting use without a range officer. Prior to this ordinance, use of land without all of these was permitted.

2. It simultaneously creates nonconforming use of a commercial range not in a residential zoning, in contravention to § (d)(3), for all the same reasons above, and by requiring $1M insurance and annual registration. Now, a range can operate with whatever liability insurance they choose -- let's say it's less than $1M. After this ordinance passes, operating with that level of insurance will not conform to the ordinance, creating a nonconforming use. The statute forbids that.

This is unnecessary government overreach through which your clear intent is to abolish firearm ranges within the county.  I insist that you cease from this behavior and withdraw the ordinance from the rulemaking of the county!

I'll be monitoring your actions on this matter through alerts from Grass Roots North Carolina.

Respectfully,

Comments
