Open Letter to President Trump on Military Base Victim Disarmament
Shared via email by WarOnGuns Correspondent CDT:
Dear President Trump:
This past Thursday, there was a spree shooting at Fort Stewart, exacerbated by the fact that none of the servicemen in a position to control the shooter were armed. I won't waste any language further describing the attack, I'm confident you're aware of it.
There have been seven other spree shootings with this same profile since 2009, all made possible by President Clinton's ban on soldiers carrying arms inside military bases (DOD Directive 5210.56).
There is no place in the USA for victim disarmament policies, but *especially* not on military bases.
Back in 2015, you volunteered this pledge to Fredy Riehl of AmmoLand.com:
"As Commander-in-Chief, I would mandate that soldiers remain armed and on alert at our military bases. President Clinton never should have passed a ban on soldiers being able to protect themselves on bases. America’s Armed Forces will be armed. They will be able to defend themselves against terrorists. Our brave soldiers should not be at risk because of policy created by civilian leadership. Political correctness has no place in this debate.”
You made a similar promise on Military.com in 2018.
It's about time you followed through. What better time could there be?
As Commander in Chief, this is a pen-and-a-phone moment for you. No rogue federal judge has the power to stop you. Do it this week, and take one more easy Win.
Our servicemen deserve our respect and our trust. They're counting on you for this, as are we, their parents and grandparents.
Please do this now, for all of us. Thank you.
